Welcome to Swaying Oaks Retrievers!
We are located on 15 acres of gently rolling hills and standing timber near Wentzville, MO, approximately 30 minutes west of St. Louis. Since our first exposure to Labs and competition we have made a commitment to own, breed and promote the highest quality Labrador Retrievers for the Duck Hunter, Field Trial and Hunt Test enthusiasts, as well as provide Labs for family companions.
We don't breed our dogs for quantity, we breed for quality. Our Litters are whelped in our home and socialized with our family. We only breed one to two litters per year so that we can maintain this high standard of socialization with the puppies. We socialize the puppies daily until they are ready to go home to their new owners. We've been through quite a few puppy stages with our dogs and are happy to share advice with prospective new owners.
About us
Growing up in the Midwest I spent most of my weekends around some kind of a dog or another. I was fortunate as a kid to spend weekends with my family hunting upland game and waterfowl. To be honest, I don't remember not having a hunting dog growing up. There's always been a special feeling for me as I hunted over a good dog. I have hunted over some really good ones and some not so good ones, so I know the difference. As our love of the breed and commitment to training the finest Retrievers grew so did opportunities to showcase our dogs. They have hunted from Canada to Texas and all areas in between. We have rarely been on a trip that someone has not complimented the fine retriever work of our dogs. In fact, we often get calls to ask if our dogs can make a weekend hunt, regardless of whether we can make it or not.
I saw my first Hunt Test several years ago and was instantly hooked. We started out with one Labrador Retriever shortly thereafter and jumped into the game! Since then we have attended numerous Hunt Tests and Field Trials, with our dogs accumulating many ribbons and titles. We have been fortunate enough to cross paths with some of the best Hunt Test and Field Trial trainers in the business and their friendship, wisdom and advice are priceless.
Our commitment is simple. We are committed to owning, training and breeding the finest Labrador Retrievers for the Duck Hunter, Hunt Test, Field Trial or family companion. We only breed to select stud dogs who pass required health clearances. We attempt to put together the best possible breeding based on Pedigree's to produce Field Trial, Hunt Test and Hunting Retriever puppies that will excel in these arenas. We will never promote a breeding that we wouldn't want to keep a puppy out of for ourselves!
